I Need a Robust, Reliable, 20Gb player with good batterylife

Aug 2, 2005 12:25PM PDT

I bought a iRiver H-120 but after 3 months it has crashed and i am to get a full refund. As such,i am looking for a new player with the refund money. I am currently living in Chile and often leave civilization for 3 days at a time with my work. Therefore my requirements are a player that :

-Has 20 Gb storage
-Has decent battery life
-Is reliable (i dont fancy going through this again)
-Is fairly robust as it will spend a lot of time in
a rucksack
-Is relatively simple to load, as my girlfriend back
in the UK will be doing that for me
-I dont think i could afford a iPod with the refund
monies

Is there anything that meets those requirements?

Creative Zen Touch

24 hours of battery life. My friend has one and it sounds great!

Warning: Any player with a hard drive must be treated with care no matter how shockproof it seems. If you really lead an active lifestyle, you should get a flash-based player, CD player with MP3 playback, or a Minidisc player.

Aside from that, the Touch is good.

Touch or Cowon iAudio X5L

Touch is cheaper but bigger and less battery life. x5L has a color screen, FM, video playback, i think it's a USB Host for cameras and it has 35 hours of battery life.

Dell Digital Jukebox

I would recommend the Dell Digital Jukebox DJ 20. It's pretty cheap at about $200 with 16-20 hours of play time for the battery. Cnet even describes it as robust and they say it feels good in the hand. It also has a voice recorder as a bonus for you. I think it's a really good deal.
