I'm thinking about forgoing getting a new TV at all and just buying a nice 22" or 23" widescreen monitor to play my games. From what I understand the pixel pitch on HDTV's is around .5-.7mm whereas on a good monitor it's around .23, this will result in a better image right? I'm willing to pay up to $700 maybe more if 700 won't buy a really good one (I saw some nice ones from Dell and Apple but they cost about $900). I am concerned however that a monitor of that size's native resolution (typically 1650x1050 from what I've seen) will distort the 360's and PS3's 720p or 1080p image and make it look not so nice, is this something to worry about? Good and accurate color is an absolute must but from what I've seen this isn't as much of a concern with LCD monitors as it is LCD TVs. I'm not expecting CRT black levels but nice dark blacks are important (the black screen saver on the laptop I'm using right now looks kinda bright, although the brightness is cranked so that may have something to do with it). Any help or suggestions with this matter would be very appreciated.
