i need a linux OS

Apr 15, 2005 3:12PM PDT

every time I download an OS, I keep running into problems. Anybody know where I can get a relativly small (1 or 2 700 MB CD's) Linux that they are sure installs correctly on a used computer without any OS installed? if i dont get linux to install soon, i am going to give up on Linux and stick to Windows.

Slow down now!

First, lets take this step by step.

*When working in forums, give as much information as possible.

What distributions have you tried already?
Which did you like? Dislike?

I will assume you ran into a backwater distro that didn't work. So,

Try SuSE 9.3.

SuSE is very polished and works on every piece of hardware I sicked on it. If your computer is a piece of junk.

Try Yellow Dog.

I haven't tried this Fedora based distro, but It is supposed to be a "breathe of fresh air into old hardware."

Come back with details!

A use computer doesn't say much about what kind of cpu. Some of the newer distros may not work with very old hardwares.
