I have a LaCie external hard drive. Its the one designed by FA Porsche and its 160 GB. Although the hard drive in the case is actually a Maxtor. Either way, it in explicably crashed a few days ago. I get the error message that the file or folder is corrupted, and its not enclosure, I've already tested that. I get estimates for a hundred dollars or more from PC stores. Which is probably about right. But being the poor man I am I don't quite want to do that right. I have about 8-10 GBs of invaluable pictures, songs, and videos. This was an additional drive used for media so it would no longer bog down my laptop, all the good it did me I suppose. Either way I was recommended to use PC File Inspector. Its freeware, so thats good enough. I used it, and it didn't work at all. Found nothing, found the drive, but found nothing on it. Then I tried to upgrade to their Smart Recovery software. This software worked, but at the rate it was recovering files, with varying degrees of success, it would've taken over 300 hours to recover it all. Obviously a ridiculous amount of time. Anyways, that is a summarization of my problem, any suggestions? Any help would be greatly helpful.
