I'm tired of Windows Media Player dictating what I can listen to on my Gigabeat, can I use an alternative?

Don't know what windows you have, but if it's vista DRM is in yahoo player and windows media player and will give you a problem since it looks for licence's for everything. Can't find one and it's a no go on some things.

WMP would not even let me burn my music and yahoo player would not let me play the downloaded ones that was transfered.

Installed musicmatch jukebox 10( not 11 ) and jetaudio
http://www.jetaudio.com/ and both work in vista even though musicmatch says it is not compatable. Both have giving me NO problems with playing all my music or burning. Also jetaudio plays DVD movies.

and you can use a mp3 player.

thank you for your reply, I am using XP professional, from what I have heard Vista isn't working very well. Now my PC will not recognise my Gigabeat so I cannot transfer files direct bypassing WMP!!! Grrrr NOT HAPPY!!!!!
