Question

I'm not using IE7! Stupid browser!!

Jun 18, 2013 8:41AM PDT

I'm sure you've seen this question a hundred times before. I certainly have while searching, but I've never found an answer.

My computer at work uses Windows 7 Pro with IE10 as the browser. I constantly have web sites inform me that I'm using IE7 and I need to upgrade. It's primarily (but not exclusively) Google sites. And before anyone asks, no, I'm definitely NOT using Compatibility Mode. Has anyone found a solution for this problem yet? Any help would be great. I've been living with this for over a year and may go insane at any point in the near future. Thank you!

Clarification Request
Re-IE7
Jul 30, 2013 1:25AM PDT

I think that the source code of IE7 is still on Windows 7.Because I use IE8 on my Windows 7 and I get the same thing. Some websites say I am using IE7 when of course I am not. I don't think it a big problem.

Unfortunately, the company will not let us install other browsers.

Then you report the issue to the web site

And hope they fix it. The workplace may have rules and since they set the rules, they accept the limitations.

Anyone else?

Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't really help me. Anyone have a solution for this problem?

Go get the open source FireFox and recompile so that it lies that its IE7.

If you have a broken workplace with strange rules and a bad IT staff, no forum I know can fix that.

Anyone else?

Anyone have an actual fix to my problem, instead of a workaround or alternate? I have to stick with IE.

If no one has an answer, I appreciate the people who did take time to offer advice. Thank you!

Answer
Compatibility?

Isn't this a Compatibility issue? I'm sure I have seen this problem posted before and the resolution was to turn off IE10's Compatibility option. Or turn it on, I am not sure which.

Of course I might have been dreaming...
