Question

I'm Newbie - Kodak zx3, Which Wide Angle Lens?

Apr 23, 2011 2:35PM PDT

I'm a newbie and don't understand the jargon.

I'm going to be shooting video of footage of houses for a realtor and the regular lens doesn't capture enough of the rooms.

I'm confused about the various kinds of wide angle lenses.

Does .67x wide angle give me a wider view than .45x?

What about .45x vs .37x?

Also does fisheye give the very widest view of the entire room (more than .67x, .45x, or .37x)?

What brand of wide angle lens, bower, opteka, kodak lens itself, yields highest quality video?

Does the macro part of the lens need to be unscrewed and taken off to get the widest shot possible?

Any help on what the numbers mean in terms of which yields wider viewable area and definitions is greatly appreciated.

Wide Angle Lenses

The lower the number, the wider angle the conversion lens provides. But the wider the lens is, the more it distorts the image...straight lines become curved. This is most apparent with a fish-eye lens; a fish-eye would be a poor choice for real estate video footage.

PistonCupChampion,

Thanks for the clarification. It sounds to me based on your answer a .45x HD wide angle lens would be best suited for what I'm doing.
