I'm looking for the best camcorder with microphone input under $600. I'll use this for video reviews on products while on a tripot.
Any help is welcome

All have microphone inputs......

Some are just better than others. Sony has a unique way of using an Active Interface Shoe which you can attach a microphone or light. Very convenient. I would say Sony has a pretty good set of microphones.

inputs. I've even asked the sales staff who could not find more than one or two with mic input. I'm perplexed by why this has been dropped, but am guessing that very few use that capability.

Kidpeat is correct. Very few have mic inputs any more.
You will have an even harder time finding one for under $600.
One option is the Canon Optura 50. It is selling for around $400 right now.
Try bhphotovideo.com
