What you learn over time is that for games the GPU is where it's at.

Hello, my name is Adam and I am looking into buying a new desktop specifically for playing video games. I'm a huge gamer and I finally want to extend my hobby over to the pc world. I am looking at what to buy, I play a lot of RPGS and shooters. I'm looking at a price range of $1500 or less. I would also like it to have a fast processor and good RAM so I can run games on high settings with a fair fps. I don't know much about the specifics of hardware but your feedback is much appreciated!

I understand you completely and thank you for your feedback. My current PC is from 2006 and I'm looking for a complete upgrade not just graphically you know? So I was wondering if you or any other techs could point me in the right direction as on what brand, model, etc would beat suit my needs.
There is no correct brand or model. For me it's not that hard to get a case, CPU, motherboard, RAM, HDD, video card and bring up a new box. Then again I've been around before the PC days. Tomshardware has a few lists I like:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106.html

Real hard to find those in a ready to use desktop. You can have the best for less.
