I'm locked out of Entourage

(Using OSX 10.5.7 on MacBook, Comcast cable modem):For the pst 24 hours I have not been able to connect to my Entourage email account, which denies every combination of letters and numbers, upper and lower case, of my formerly reliable password. System tries to log in, then gives me the error message "invalid username/password." I can't find a "forgot password" link or otherwise change the password. If I try Mac mail I get "system timed out." I can use webmail to get password but not Entourage or Mac Mail.

I meant to say "I can use webmail to get email", not "I can use webmail to get password"

Remove the password from your Entourage account

and attempt to connect.
When Entourage asks for your password, put it in and click on the Remember this button.

I have Comcast as well and they are notorious for not allowing access to mail from an email client.

Usually I just ignore the error and come back later and all works well.

Calling them only makes them say "it's a Mac problem" or "You cannot do email on a Mac" or "if you can get email from our website, that proves there is nothing wrong"

Usually it fixes itself

I tried your solution with all logical variations of my Comcast password (changing case, numbers in place of letters, etc.) Does your recommended solution create a new password, or simply allow the use of a password you knew was correct? Perhaps there's another way to establish a new password?

...and it did. I gave up after my last try failed, but ten minutes later went back to Entourage, clicked on "send/receive", and danged if it didn't work! Now to recall which version of the PW I used!

Thanks for your advice; and your cautionary note re Comcast.

Spoke too soon

Now it's acting up again, rejecting any password variation I try. Any suggestions welcomed.

Access your comcast account

on the web.
Change the password to something that you want it to be.
Set that password in your MAIL program
Get your mail.

If you cannot get into your account, because of the bad password, call Comcast and they can reset it for you to something that you then change.
