I'm Just Curious About This

by bbescuela / January 17, 2006 2:23 AM PST

I'm just curious about something. Every workday I get one email containing a virus on my office account. Usually it is W32/Netsky.p@MM, but sometimes it is Exploit-MIME.gen.c. The emails come from different (spoofed) addresses. It happens every workday, but only once a day, and never on weekends or holidays. For example, I did not get one yesterday, on MLK day. It has been happening like this for a few months. My mail server filters them and notifies me, so I'm not worried about an infection (we also have good AV protection), I'm just wondering if anyone can explain why it happens like this, and is there a way to stop it?

Thanks in advance.

It's probably from the same spammer

that has your address and has an infected computer. Eventually they should go away whe the spammer cleans up the computer or his computer dies. <<(Better option IMO)

I see...

Aha, so whoever sends them only turns on their computer on workdays. (Must be a single infected computer?) I guess that makes sense. But isn't it odd that it's not always the same virus?

Anyway, thanks!

that is probably all it is. I've had simliliar things happen to me also in the past. they are aggravating but as long as you are protected, they are harmless. In MY case they went away eventually.
