Resolved Question

-I'm having strange sound problems...not a hardware issue-

Aug 14, 2011 2:40AM PDT

Hello,
After a computer crash (blue screen) and a reboot that required a 'windows repair' my sound stopped working. The interesting thing about this is that it only seems to be internet sound, for example when I go to youtube or try to listen to internet radio...there's no sound. However, if I click the little speaker icon in the system tray (to adjust my volume) I am able to hear the windows 'ding' sound. My guess is that there seems to be an internet option in windows somewhere that somehow got flipped to 'off'. I use Internet Explorer, the current verison.

I do not have a soundcard, my sound runs off my motherboard using Realtek HD audio manager software. RealTek has audio tests available in the sound manager section and I hear the test sounds just fine.

Has anyone had this issue or does anyone have an idea of how to fix it??

Thanks in advance

Let's say it's not hardware.

Why not use System Restore to when it worked since that won't affect our files but roll back the OS and drivers to when it worked?

And a good thing too.

Repairs when system restore is turned off are tedious to impossible it seems. Good that the simplest idea worked.
