That's a component missing from your setup. The Wireless Access Point. But since you don't have a router, you should look at a combo router/WAP.

Okay, I'm dealing with a laptop that did not originally come with a network card, so I bought a PCMCIA card for it (D-link 10/100), and have been connecting to a cable internet connection through that card and an RJ45 network cable. I recently bought a USB network adapter (linksys 2.4ghz 802.11b), assuming that the PCMCIA card would still serve as the network card if the RJ45 cable was not plugged into it. But, after installing the wireless adapter's software, and entering all the necessary network information (network ID, WEP address), I can't connect to the network. I'm afraid this is because the USB network adapter doesn't work with the PCMCIA card. Is this correct? If the two should work together, then what am I doing wrong? Thanks!
