General discussion

I'm bailing out of the gay marriage thread

Feb 24, 2004 10:48PM PST

it is too long and too much trouble for me to stay on track.

It would be my choice for the first feature to fix. Longer viewable threads.

And the stupid software ate the first post I put all this into.

Hi (and sorry it's me again). I agree for both reasons...

It really is hard work after a thread goes beyond the first page.

I've also lost well-thought-out posts. IMO it is easy to rattle off a one-liner, but when a considered opinion is lost - that is different.

I had an Idea, that might work, but probably too complicated and mess everything up. The situation sure needs a few adjustments somewhere.

Ditto.............and ditto, again

Trying to follow a thread that goes beyond one page, and especially one that goes beyond two, is aggravating and frustrating. Since I can't even do a search for a particular area of interest, or a post of my own that I want to follow, I end up just saying "Oh, heck with it!"

And while I'm on the subject of frustration: One of the things that I have found difficult in following what is being said and to whom, is that if I read a response to a particular post after several other posts and their follow-ups are in-between, I have to look back at the thread tree to see to whom they are responding to. There used to be a "marker" included in a post as to exactly which previous post it was attached to.

Until something better comes along, maybe when it goes to the second page, everyone type in the "Subject Title" what "message number" they are replying to instead of just hanging on that post.

The only way I can find replys, is follow the dates and times of the last posts. very time consuming.

Posts that I think I need to particularly think
Feb 25, 2004 5:42AM PST

and espcially to censor myself, or rewrite to be clear, I've gotten to the point I often do them in Wordpad then copy and past to reply window.

Easier to read and correct a long reply in Wordpad than this little box.

I cannot be bothered with large threads MO - The subject shouldn't take more than about 50 posts
Feb 25, 2004 5:56AM PST

and very often includes other subjects that could be started in a new thread anyway!
