Question

I'm a musician videoing- 2 questions on focus, computer

Sep 16, 2011 12:19AM PDT

I play professionally, and am going to start submitting to YouTube.
I'm a solo electric guitarist and will use the video camera on a tripod
and I don't move around too much- just a step or two every few seconds.

I bought an inexpensive Samsung Q10 High Def vidcam.

#1 my vids fade in and out of focus badly every few seconds. Why?

#2 Processing and uploading the vids, especially when I incorporate the
soundtracks which I record in my recording software and add to the video
takes an hour or more in some cases. And I'm talking a 5 minute video
with nothing fancy about it.

My computer is about 6 yrs old, 2.4 Ghz and 2 gig memory.
What do I need? Dual or quad core? Is that important now? I don't need
the best, for money reasons, but the processes shouldn't take more than
10 or 15 minutes, I wouldn't think.

Thanks for your time. Here are a couple test vids I've uploaded to YouTube. (they're tests, remember) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0MrzNWGpYA You'll see the focus problem.

1. Auto focus.

Reviews say it's not that good. Turn it off if you can. You'll have to scour the menus or manual. The example video shows little need for auto focus.

2. I found woot.com offering a Samsung RC512 for a bargain. I'd like to see video editing on something like that. Don't listen to those that write about apps not using all the CPU cores and power. I use HANDBRAKE and it along with other apps do tap the power to drive down time.
