I lost the Windows Vista game, Tinker...

Apr 25, 2009 1:15PM PDT

A few months back after uninstalling Tinker editor because I did not like it, I also lost the game Tinker. I want to know how to get it back without having to reload my computer. Can anyone help me?

Try two things...

1.) Browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Tinker and see if Tinker.exe (shortened to just Tinker) is still there. If so, you can right-click it, select Copy, then right-click another location, such as your desktop, and select Paste Shortcut.

2.) If Tinker is no longer present, run Windows Update and see if the optional Ultimate Extra appears in the listing.

Hope this helps,
John

I tried both of what you recommended and couldn't find it either place.

And you have Windows Vista Ultimate?

If so, you'll need to contact Microsoft, as there is no standalone installer for Tinker. If not, you'll need to purchase an upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate to gain access the the Ultimate Extras.

Yes I do have Windows Vista Ultimate. I have another post on the Microsoft Answers forum. I did not want to pay to contact Microsoft so I'll try to get free online answer from Microsoft's forum. Thank you for your help though. To bad Microsoft does not have a standalone installer for Tinker.

You might be eligible for free support...

Microsoft offers free technical support for Windows Update issues, regardless of current warranty status. If you click here and explain that Windows Update is not providing you, a Windows Vista Ultimate user, with the Ultimate Extra Tinker, despite it not being installed, they should be willing to help you resolve the issue at no charge.

Good luck.
