Since, I have to pay attention to my diet now more than ever, I do try to watch what I eat. I have cut down(out really) on any fast foods and basic quick meals. I do my own cooking and still do but cut DOWN but not out on some of the favorites. That means less salt, fat, starches, dairy, oils, you get the picture. I was told also to cut down sugars which many a juice will be. But, dang it a good OJ seems to help during an illness or simple drink. If i eat fried chicken and slaw, etc., you know a Coke is about the best drink to have. Can't have beer, so Coke it is. But Coke is sweet, diet then. I hear diet drinks may cause excessive intake of the drink or liquids. Take a Fish oil pill with your meals, that's good cholesterol. Used to be margarine was better than butter now its reversed. If you going to have any, then butter just less of it. Arrggg, it makes one wish for a last meal to be the buttered mushrooms, potatoes, cheese, peas, etc., all done to your likening just to go out with great taste. ![]()

Orange Juice as the next heart craze?
Flavonoids in orange juice suppress oxidative stress from high-fat, high-carb meal
"Our data show, for the first time to our knowledge, that drinking orange juice with a meal high in fat and carbohydrates prevented the marked increases in reactive oxygen species and other inflammatory agents," says UB's Husam Ghanim, PhD, first author on the study.
So, should I take my next overindulgence on steak & fries & chocolate with a side of OJ? I'm curious to see how this plays out. Also, I wonder if a margarita would have the same effect. Triple sec and Grand Marnier and Cointreau are made from oranges, aren't they? And lime juice is a little bit like OJ, isn't it?
