General discussion

I know it's not tech-related, per se ..

Feb 23, 2006 5:16AM PST

.. but after hearing the podcasts, and hearing from PaulnotRon, and now BillnotBob, I just HAD to put this website link down in the spirit of things. This is a website in protest of Daniel Craig being the new James Bond. The website?

http://www.craignotbond.com

It's KINDA tech-related, what with 007 being a spy with really nifty gadgets.

Your Nobody Until Your Not Somebody

I think you're not actually really part of Buzz Out Loud until you become a "not." I mean Paul was just Paul before. But now he is immortalized as PaulNotRon. Happy

Good point!

I, too, will immortalize myself in this fashion, but not because my name is mistaken for someone else's, but because everyone wants to spell it wrong.

If I had to use one

It would have to be:
RyanNotJames

Confused?

First name = James
Middle name = Ryan
Everybody has always called me Ryan (especially my parents), and I like it better anyways.

It definitely makes "Saving Private Ryan" a bit more fun for me to watch, just because they keep looking for James Ryan.

Now we all really need to ability to add signatures to our posts. It's going to get tiring when everyone is typing our names like that.

My brother's name is Tim. He's seven years younger. My parents could have been alittle more creative. But then my Grandma named her first son Harold and her second son Harry because she "liked the name". My Dad was named Bill, which was the same name as his Dad. So my family likes the confusion.

I can relate
Feb 23, 2006 11:10PM PST

I was named after my Dad, so all my life I was known as "Terry Jr." In fact, when I visit my Dad's side of the family, they still call me "Terry Jr." Makes me feel like a little kid all over again.

I never know what to call Tom (had to check his user profile there. I remember sending mail to him, tim/tom/or something else!

I know a guy with the same name as his father. When he was younger, he applied for a credit card - his dad receved it and thought it was his. He was using it for a year before anyone noticed. The guy thought the bank had not accepted his application. I thought it was such a funny story!

Not far off for me either...

When Tom threw out BillnotBob after emailed them, they weren't too far off. My brother's name is Bob and there's confusion to this day from my parents on who they're talking about.
