General discussion

I keep jumping to a site called "Web Search" when

Oct 7, 2005 8:18AM PDT

accessing the forums, especially Speakeasy. I thought that I had solved the problem by deleting and reinstalling main browser Firefox. However the fix was only temporary.

Since it is happening in IE also I dont think it is browser specific.

Suspect that the forums may have been hacked or there is just a glitch in the software.

Would be happy to findout that it isnt just me.

HAve run my anti spyware and anti-virus software with no results!

According to CNet,

There's some code errors in an ad that's causing this. You're not alone! We're all getting these hijackings.

Hang in there, they're working on it!

I did this to get rid of that problem.
Internet explorer Menu --> Tools --> Internet Options --> Security Tab --> Restricted sites, then click on "Sites" and add the name of the website.

Fix on a Mac using Firefox?
Oct 7, 2005 4:31PM PDT

From Tools I have
? Web Search
? Downloads
? Extensions
? Themes
? Java Comsole
? DOM Inspector-(what ever that means?)
? Page Info

How do you do this same thing on a Mac if it pops up?
I will not go to that link suggested by Jonah.
I have a migraine headache all-ready.
Thanks,

-Kevin

I tried that and it didn't work for me

but I believe it was because it was actually an ad on cnet's site that caused the redirect over and over and the settings under restricted sites couldn't kick in to override it.

I finally gave up and went to bed figuring it would be fixed by cnet by the time I woke up this morning. But I DO have it entered in my Restricted Sites now, just in case.......
