What new computer?

And what is it's maker telling you?

You left out all the good details. Try telling the full story as to make, model, what backup program and more.

http://www.microsoft-tech.com/index.aspx?Content=22 is interesting but why would a new computer need that done? Your story may reveal why.

Just A Suggestion.. Instead Of Windows Backup...
Oct 2, 2008 2:57AM PDT

...and I'm guessing you bought a brand name computer, there should be a Recovery Disc creation tool included.. If you haven't run the Recovery Disc creation tool or you weren't given the Recovery Discs with the new machine, I recommend getting that done.. If the computer even takes a dive, you can use those Recovery Discs to bring the computer back to it's original factory condition.

Hope this helps.

Backup problems
Oct 5, 2008 12:20AM PDT

There have been problems concerning the new Turbo memory that ships with some laptops. The Turbo memory shows up as storage on the computer and the default configurations don't bode well with the Vista backup utility. If you do have a laptop, find out if it has Turbo memory. If so, take a look at the following URL: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2479460&SiteID=17.

You also do other searches regarding Turbo RAM and vista and you should be able to get this resolved.

Happy computing!!
