Question

I installed new copy of windos xp and now have two copies

Jun 10, 2012 12:37AM PDT

I was reading about problems and i haven't found anyone with same problem as me. I installed new copy of Windows XP and had a problem with boot up an choosing between two copies of XP. One works fine but slowed down and other doesn't work at all. But the real problem is with my disk. I had the two partitions on my disk and when i was installing new copy i tried to delete all data from both partitions. I managed to format partition with my documents but when i was trying to format partition with old windows on it it wouldn't let me and said that there are some installation files on it that can't be deleted. I just went on and intalled new copy on that partition and it seemed fine. Add or remove programs show only two program which i installed now on this new copies. But when i enter program files or users i can se all my old files and programs and even run them. I searched regeedit and found only one file. How can i delete files of my old copy or how can i format that partition so i can install new copy on clean disk.

Sorry for long post and for my English.

Answer
No, that's just the boot.ini showing that.

Why not google BOOT.INI and learn how to edit that?

I think you firstly remove your motherboard battery and again put it and then format your full hard drive or the partition where you want to instal your os, then see the diff. I think this will help you.

Bob has the problem.

Besides that, how does removing the CMOS battery help?

Answer
Format patition with "My Documents"?

Not sure what that means.

To start over, insert the XP Setup disk, reboot, and use that disk to delete all partitions.

R. Proffitt boot.ini wouldn't solve my problem couse i have data from my old copy of XP on my comupter it doesn't just show up at boot up.

MarkFlax I tried to do that but it doesn't let me it says there are some setup files on one partition and i can't delete it. Is there any other way i can delete it.

We can save that data. Even copy it over. How!
