General discussion

I have IE6 w/WinXP Home Ed and I need send screen shot.

Oct 9, 2006 11:25AM PDT

I have membership to CinemaNow and had to do a destructive recovery on my pc desktop. I forgot to download WMP 10 and when I went to view a rental movie IE took over and is now embedded in my log-in at C-Now and they want me to send a screen shot of my login where it shows the windows "online movies" status.

Does anyone know how to do this? I sure as don't!

Taking a screenshot...
Oct 9, 2006 12:11PM PDT

One way of taking a screenshot is to press the "Prt Scr" (Print Screen) key, then open a program that supports photos (Paint, Photoshop, or even Word) and go Edit->Paste. You can then save the file and e-mail it to them as an attachment.

Alternatively you can use a program such as Gadwin PrintScreen to take the screenshot and save it for you. Again, just add it as an attachment to the e-mail you send them.

If you need information how how to add an attachment let us know what e-mail provider and e-mail client (such as Outlook, if applicable) you use.

Hope this helps,
John

Okay, I got the screenshot, thanks, but.......

I have yahoo e-mail and I can't seem to get the attachment to send. I saved it in paint and on notepad, but both times I tried to send it I got a message saying invalid file specified. What it does is give the whole path: c:/documents and setting/my documents, etc. What nowSad

Did you try using Gadwin as john suggested? I use it and it works great and is very easy. You have to create and account and login but it's safe. Just upload the screenshot, click on the link they give make sure I get the correct URL, then copy and paste it into the email.

Hope this helps.

screenshot sending by e-mail
Oct 12, 2006 12:48PM PDT

The problem was that yahoo e-mail limits the size of the attachments that you can send, so I made it a zip file on my desktop and finally sent it like that, but, hey, thanks to all that helped me with this. I did learn about screenshots.Happy

But what does it mean when you say get the correct "URL"? I'm having a problem understanding where that terms comes into play, duh.

The URL...
Oct 12, 2006 1:16PM PDT

There are many sites that will store (host) your photo on their servers for free, and then provide you with a URL to give your friends, post in a forum such as this, etc so that they can view it. They often give you several URLs (web addresses), one is directly to the photo, another is to a reduced-quality version so it loads faster, another is to a thumbnail (very small image), etc. Thus, you should get the 'correct URL' in that you'd want the one to the actual image.

The benefit to this is that you don't have to worry about e-mail attachment limits and can share images with anyone...you can post a URL here in the forums and never have to have their e-mail address or vice versa. (Great for trouble-shooting and keeps it pretty much anonymous.) From the photo's webpage someone could right-click and save a copy to their own computer with no loss of quality.

The downside is that it's available to the entire world...anyone that knows or guesses the URL can view it. Thus, it's certainly not something you want to use for personal/private photos.

Hope this helps,
John

In this order. . .
Oct 10, 2006 11:31PM PDT

Press Print Screen

Open MS Paint

Click Edit, Paste

Click File, Save As

Take notice of the folder and rename the file to whatever you want, then click the drop down and choose JPEG

Remembering which folder you saved the picture in, use your email program to INSERT the picture, navigating to the folder where you saved the JPEG.
