General discussion

I have a trojan or two and they suck!

Jan 6, 2006 8:43AM PST

None of my spyware, anti-virus, trojan cleaners are fixing it. Something got installed and nothing can find it.

My question is, if I just format my hard drive and re-install windows and everything else, will that fix my problem?

All my important files can easily be backed up and I still have all the original installation discs and everything.

I just want to know if a format will get rid of the fricken thing? If it does, I'd rather just do that and start fresh rather than to continue to try and find it.

Thanks in advance.

Skagnetti, Have You Tried?
Jan 6, 2006 8:50AM PST

Download the Ewido program from the link below, then update, it, then restart your computer into Safe Mode, then run a full system scan while in Safe Mode..See if it cleans out the trojan.

Ewido Security Suite

How To Start In 'Safe Mode'

If not, YES, a full reformat and reinstall will get rid of a trojan.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm...

I have tried just about everything, but that!

I'll give it a shot.

I may just reinstall everything anyway. Get rid of some of the pre-installed software from the PC maker that I never use. Gracias!

themselves from the registry after entering, making themselves invisble to most scanners. There is a free trial beta one from F-Secure( just type in to search above) but I believe Ewido claims to find these also. Good Luck!! Happy
