I need to know if, when I install Parallels on my iMac, will I need a new Win 7 license or will it use the version already installed on my PC?

I'm running Win 7 with all updates/SP/etc. I didn't know you can retire a license. My problem is, I will be phasing out my PC over time, not immediately, so I will still have Win 7 on the PC and I will need Win 7 for the virtual machine on my iMac. The iMac was just purchased last week so it's the latest version of Snow Leopard.
But let's say you try to use your 7 license. The worst that will happen is that it will not activate or accept it in parallels. But why I asked the questions was to see if we could tell if that would happen ahead of time.
Without the details, the answer would be unknown.
