i have a question about the digital copy of vista ultimate

Sep 4, 2009 1:15AM PDT

last night i bought and downloaded windows vista ultimate upgrade. it finished downloading and i launched the installer but it gave this this error " cannot extract windows vista to your hard drive. please make sure you can create files and folders in the same folder where VistaSetupPrep.exe was downloaded. return to your digital locker for product support ". i am thinking i am getting this error because i have xp as an operating system. but i am not sure i would like your guy's input and maybe solve this dilemma.

are you talking about the vista dvd? if so i can wait until i get the dvd. so there is no way to repair the digital copy?

Here's why I think the digital copy is fine.

The downloader checks the file integrity. But with all the damaged Windows I've seen over the years or ones hit with "registry cleaners" I remain unconvinced its a corrupt digital copy.

Let me be clear that nothing points to an easy fix yet. This is why you want the install on DVD for Windows 7 you'll get in a few weeks.

I used the link you supplied.

As to the DVD, it may work, it may not. Be sure you have your old XP install CD since it may be called upon to install your new OS.

Again the link you supplied showed you get 7
