I have a question about the CAT 5E cables

by Age53 / October 20, 2006 1:23 PM PDT

Does the quality of the connection loose speed if the cable is further away from the modem right now I have a 3' cable but I want to use a 25' cable instead.

Will there be any problems using a longer type?

Or should I just put in a new phone jack to where the modem will be???

Cable length

You shouldn't experience any performance degradation with the longer cable. Cat 5 enhanced has a max length of about 90 meters.

25 foot is far inside the spec, so no.

Maybe we should never have joked at the office that the machine on the longest cable would be slower.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
