I think I would have used the guide from Bleeping Computer on this one.

Most of this stuff is due to us installing it (sometimes we click ok!) or cruising an infected site. I find using some other browser on my fully updated Windows with Web Of Trust installed to really help but in the end it's up to us to avoid such sites and not use Internet Explorer all the time. (they target that one.)
Hope you cure it.

Yesterday, on my DH's computer (Dell XP pro 3), AVG free found "trojan horse generic 25.BFYF" in dll files. It would say it was removed, but if you run it again, it says it's still there. I worked on it again this morning and after running AVG several times, got a clean scan. Some dll files appear to be missing.
Then, a few minutes ago, something called "windows privacy" says it's detected a trojan horse w32.blaster.worm and to activate protection, press here. I have no idea what "Windows privacy" is, so I did a hard restart to get this mess to stop. It's detecting all this stuff called child porn, etc. which made me suspicious of this "windows privacy" thing. The "windows privacy" icon is still there in the tray and on the desktop.
He really has nothing on the computer, so a system restore would be an option but can't find instructions in the help file. I've searched for the trojan horse generic 25.BFYF, but couldn't find anything on AVG's site.
Any ideas?
