My laptop is freezing when I turn it on and goes to the black screen and says start normally or it recommends that I run a start up repair and either way it just goes on forever

Clarification Request
Run Diagnostics
by DELL-Appu_S Dell staff / July 9, 2013 6:02 AM PDT

Hi loveless4ever,

I would suggest you to run the Dell Diagnostics to check the hardware functionality. Power off the computer -> restart the computer, press 'F12' key on the Dell logo -> Select 'Diagnostics' from the boot menu.

Also, try booting the computer into Safe Mode. Restart the computer, tap F8 on Dell logo 2-3 times -> This will take you to 'Windows Advanced Boot Options' -> Choose 'Safe Mode' in the Advanced Boot menu (use 'up' or 'down' arrow keys to highlight the option, press 'enter' to select) -> When Windows finishes loading in Safe mode, check if the computer is working fine.

Please reply if you have any questions.

Thanks and Regards,
Appu S

Does it boot and run those OSes on CD also known as Live CDs?
