I have 8gb ram but it only shows as 4gb

I think maybe he didn't install it correctly, that could happen sometimes or maybe is the O.S. Windows 8 is a very lousy O.S. Maybe the RAM memory is not the same as the computer or maybe his computer only accepts 4 GB and the O.S. is saying that you have 8 GB but only can work with 4GB. You can't expand to 8 GB you need to search first the internet for the model of your pc and see if you can expand it to 8 GB.

Hey if you are interested in some computer and ebooks I recommend you this page is new but has a lot of stuff.

All's good. And heresy to some but we have less troubles on 8 to 10 than 7!

I've yet to see the OP's issue due to a bum install.
