saying that my PC is set up to log in automatically and it may have issues logging in after the upgrade...why will this be an issue?

Could be a scam. I'm using Win 10 now, and never had an email like that.

It's related to the hardware/bios set up on particular machines. Disable autologin before you run the upgrade. Windows 10 makes configuration changes to the start up operation. With autologin enabled, it can get stuck in the auto-repair startup bootloop. You can reenable autologin after windows 10 is installed.
before installing Windows 10 and you never got a message from Microsoft?
No, I didn't have to login to Win 10. Once the upgrade was done I was still logged in. No email though.

I am referring to is I am unable to receive Windows 10 because my PC is set for automatic log in and the message from "Get Windows 10" said that .logging in might be an issue after the upgrade.
Those are used only if you have more than one computer, right? Or, do I need them for upgrading the PC now?
I have no idea how MS keep track of us but on the upgraded computer it has 2 keys, win7/8 and win10 and I am guessing you can't just use 10 alone. It's for upgrade only.
Why not disable that for the upgrade, and re-enable later once you made the new user(s?) and know how you want to login in Windows 10?
Kees
I meant to say: disable it in your current Windows before you do the upgrade. Since it's not a default feature you must have enabled it yourself. So you know how to disable it also.
If necessary google WINDOWS 7 AUTO LOGON (or 8.1 if you have that at the moment).
Kees
and I got the message saying my PC is set for automatic log in.
I've never seen google saying anything about my PC.
But https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+7+auto+logon tells how to configure Windows like that. So, since it isn't default, I assume you did something like that in the past.
With a little bit of fantasy, these google search might help you to undo it. Then you choose your username and enter your password yourself, and then you should be able to upgrade to Windows 10. That's what it's all about, isn't it?
Kees
and the steps are basically the same and I am getting the message saying that my PC is set to log in automatically. I configured my laptop so now I have the log in screen again hoping that would solve the problem.
Don't worry if it still says that. It can take a few days for microsoft to detect the change - if they do at all. It's best to wait until you're notified your update is ready. Some manufacturers are still in the process of providing hardware drivers for the upgrade. I know that's the case with my Acer TC-605. Be patient.
I was told by Microsoft that the Intel components for my Lenovo laptop do not have drivers for Windows 10. That has been taken care of. Now, I get a message saying I might have log in issues with Windows 10 because my PC is set for logging in automatically. I have taken care of that. I am planning to install Windows 10 later in a few months not until most of the bugs have been resolved.
I would imagine other people are having the same issue I am having: I disabled "automatic login" (winkey+r, netplwiz, check "user must enter password"). I then rebooted, and had to manually enter my password; proof that auto login was disabled. However, when I try to upgrade, I still get the same message, "Your PC is set to log in automatically. Please wait for notification that your PC is ready for upgrade." While your suggestion sounds completely logical, and should work, it doesn't!
