i get a message that says that nessisary system files not found

when i click on the game controler icon i get a message that says nessisary system files not found. i am running windows 95

This is usually an issue that the game controller that is on some sound card needs drivers. But given the age of the OS, you may have extreme difficulty in finding what card this is, the drivers and installing such.

But do try and install the audio card drivers.

1. Check with Google search to see if you can locate the drivers/system files off the net. Very risky as they may be the correct ones (a name is just a name, after all).

2. Understand that as newer games are relased they will not support old technology or old operating systems. Check out any site like Cnet, and you will see the minimum spec for most software now is Win 98.

3. Try asking Santa for a new version of Windows. Not only is that one past its use by date, but it is hole-ier than the Pope, specially when surfing these shark infested waters. If the machine itself is old, you could try eBay or local ads for Win 98, which while also out of date (from January next year) is at least a leap forward from what you have now.
