I.E. 6.0, SP1. Downloaded program files?

Sep 24, 2004 7:59AM PDT

W98SE, I.E.6.0,SP1, HP 6630, 64MB RAM

When I click on I.E. Tools/Internet Properties/Settings and "View Objects" there are several items that appear that I want to remove. They are files(?) from some Trial Games that I downloaded and no longer use. Is it safe to delete these items? I believe they are active x controls, but not sure. I was going to delete them and put in the Recycle Bin, but when I click on the file, the only option I have is to "Remove". Don't want to do that until I know if is safe to remove them.
TIA.

Shirley

Shirely,

Yes, those items are normally ActiveX controls and can safely be removed. I'm not on a Windows 98 computer at this moment, but those files should reside in the "C\Windows\Downloaded Program Files" folder. (RIGHT clicking on them, then choose "Properties", in Windows Explorer will show you the type of file they are.) If for some reason, you need them again, such as those from the Windows Update site, you'll be asked to reinstall them.

On the other hand, if there are .exe files in that folder, (there shouldn't be), you should only delete those game files that you no longer intend to use.

Hope this helps.

Hi Grif:
Yes, I found them in "C\Windows\Downloaded program files" folder. There weren't any exe. files, just Active X with Java packages. I removed those that I don't use anymore.

Thank you.
