will not reboot
by bugaloo3 / July 31, 2010 2:28 AM PDT

My friend has a Dell computer that will come up with F1 to reboot and F2. Only the F2 button works and it will not reboot. Any suggestions? Or what more info is needed? Thank you

Two Suggestions..

In reply to: will not reboot

Because that error at startup is frequently caused by a dead CMOS battery, please try replacing it.. It's a $5 battery and on a desktop computer, it's an easy replacement that most home users can perform.

If you need to reboot, try simply turning off the computer by holding in the power button for 15 seconds.. The computer should shut down and you can then restart it.

As to the problem with F1 vs F2, have you tried replacing the keyboard so all keys work?

Hope this helps.

Grif
