I had a problem posting a reply to your thread too.
I ended up using a different browser to post it.
I couldn't reply to Peters post about my situation not being the end of the world... thus the new post. This is the second time this has happened. Anyway, I checked Time Machine in Preferences and it seems to be doing OK. I am not taking my MacBook with me and will shut it down while we are gone. I will turn it back on when we return and ask for further instructions on how to perhaps get my desktop back to normal. Thanks again,
