1) I use the program's uninstall file, if available and/or
2) I use Win add/remove
3) I look on my HD to see if the folder in which the program was located is gone. If not, I delete it.
4) I run a search on my HD for any file remotely named anything like the program
5) I run a registry checker program to delete any left-over remnants of the uninstalled program.
Depending on the type of program and how "deep" I think it installed itself on my computer, I may or may not reboot several times during the above steps.
