OK, tap that control a few more times gently. No go? Over in the Cnet Laptop Troubleshooting Forum a kind author gifted the forum with very nice content in the sticky.
It includes how to put a keytop on (and from that you can see how to remove it.) Also there are numerous notes and pictures about how to remove the keyboard cable. In a pinch I can unplug the keyboard ribbon cable and plug in some USB keyboard while I wait for a new keyboard.

I have a sony vaio laptop (model pcg-7t1L), that is running vista. I'm pretty sure the ctrl key is stuck, because when i try to type it opens different windows. I can not get to any web pages, or type period. I bought a usb keyboard, but does not help. Can I bypass the laptop keyboad, for the usb one. I even tried to hit f8 at startup, but was unsucessful. Can someone please help?
