Question

I cant find how to update my BIOS

Mar 1, 2015 8:37AM PST

I have a motherboard mate by Gigabyte its model is:
z87x-d3h-cf .

Regedit says the SystemBiosDate is 08/02/13
SystemBiosVersion: ALASKA - 1072009 Ver. 04.06.05

I went to the Gigabyte Technology website but I could not find a way to update my BIOS (or if mine is up to date). How can I rectify this?

WHY DO THIS?

This is something you avoid and put off unless there's a very good reason. Some folk have a crashing PC and this is not the time to do such an update.

Answer
You product manual should tell you exactly how to update

your MB BIOS.

The question is . .why do you want to update your BIOS? It's usually NOT recommended unless you have a problem that the BIOS update specifically fixes.

The downside is BRICKING your MB.

I find this

The cf may be irrelevant. I'd wonder if this is an off-the-shelf board or one in a brand name PC. But, the general rule is to not update BIOS if all is working well. You can check to see what's been fixed to see if it pertains to you. Updating a BIOS can leave you with a brick doorstop so be cautious. Never do this without having your PC attached to a UPS.
