Hi. I have the same problem and was wondering if you found a solution yet. I bought a My Book and hooked it up to my laptop with windows XP. It seemed to work fine and backed up all my files. Then I tried to upgrade to Vista and it crashed my internal harddrive and windows xp software. Microsoft was able to get Windows Vista working, but My Book is not compatible with Vista, so I had to (get this) buy a new computer with Windows XP so I could actually get access to the files on My Book's external hard drive. I did this and now my new computer with Windows XP is not recognizing the My Book external hard drive at all. Is it because the My Book software (which exists on the external hard drive itself only recognizes my old computer? I downloaded the My Book software from the Western Digital website, but it didn't help my computer recognize the actual external hard drive. Please let me know how you got help with yours! Thanks.
