I'd try the sticks in another PC.
- If they are fine there, something is wrong with the USB-ports on your PC (either hardware or software).
- If they fail there also, you throw them away. If the story repeats with other sticks, there's some suspicion that your PC corrupts them. That most likely is a hardware issue. That can be confirmed by seeing if that corruption also occurs if you use a stick after booting in Linux.

I have 3 different USB drives and surprisingly all have one problems or the other..The LG 16 Gb cannot be formatted.it says the disk is write protected.i google all the solution and try using the cmd and device manager but still it say the disk is write protected.
The other 2 drives TOSHIBA 16 and 8 GB cannot only be formatted . it says the operation cannot be performed due to I/O error..
please help me
