Question

I can't set apn on iphone 5c, ios 8.2

Mar 14, 2015 1:39AM PDT

I recently dumped T-mobile because where I live is a dead zone, and most of where I go is a data dead zone. So there's really no point having a smartphone.

I went w/ Straighttalk as my hubby has it and it works here. However, I've had a lot of trouble getting things to work besides the plain phone funciton. The instructions say I have to update my APN settings but I can't find them. All the instructions I'm finding online were written in 2013 or 2014 and they don't seem to apply to ios 8.2. For example:
*In the main menu of the iPhone 5 tab on Settings
*Now go into General
*Select Network.
There is no 'network' within 'General.'

The straighttalk website gives settings to be input, but I can't figure out where to input them. 'cellular' just gives toggles to turn on or off.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Bought unlocked so I can use it overseas. (Which was ridiculously easy, and had great coverage. Wish we had vodaphone.)

I do intend to call the carrier but sometimes 'crowd wisdom' is actually more up to date, I've found.

Thanks,

The instructions are for ios 7, not 8, and I used my old t-mobile sim, not ATT, but it did the trick. Pain in the a$$ but after getting disconnected from the outsourced tech support twice, it's better than trying a third time.

Where it says Settings - General - Cellular, you actually want Settings - Cellular

Yes I found the notes to use the sim card on ios 8

But the instructions were so badly written that I shared the YouTube instead. Some folk won't believe it so a video tends to do better.
