I can't play CNet TV on my notebook

Jun 16, 2007 9:40PM PDT

Hello all, I hope you could help me to solve my problem. I bought an HP dv6139us notebook after Thanksgiving 2006, so it is fairly new. It came with Windows Media Center 2005 Operating System. Everything worked great. Since the computer is Vista-ready and I had the option to upgrade to Windows Vista (Home Premium)for free from HP, so I did it. However, I did not check if everything was working. Well, two weeks later I formatted the hardrive and did a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate edition. Everything works great EXCEPT when I tried to play the CNet TV, it would not play correctly. It stops loading the buffer after 7 seconds, and only continues IF I keep moving the mouse. The sound is there (if I continuesly moves the mouse), but the video is way behind (like 3 - 4 seconds behind). Do you know what seems to be the problem ? And how to fix it ? I really appreciate your help. Thank you very much.

Note: Notebook: DV6139US
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T2250 1.73 GHz
Memory: 2 GB
Display Adapter: Mobile Intel 945GM
Network Adapter: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG

By the way, I could play ESPN Video fine. And I could play any DVDs fine too. Just the CNet TV that won't work.

it still does not work

Thank you for trying to help me John. I did uninstall and re-install the Flash Player, thrre times as a matter of facts. But it still does not work, it improves little bit though. It used to be that the video was behind 3 - 4 seconds from the sound even when I continuesly move the mouse. Now, it does not get behind ! However, that still only works IF I keep the mouse moving continuesly, otherwise the video stops and then a few seconds later the sound stops also. I checks to play the ESPN, it works fine. Then why in the hell it does not work for CNet TV ??? Maybe there is/are extra thing(s) I have to have to make it works for CNet TV ??? Maybe John or anyone could help me out. Thank you again.

Update: it works now,.. the solution to the problem is not about the Flash Player, it was about the setting in the internet security. I have to uncheck (turn it off) the Protecting Mode. This is how:
Open IE7, go to Tools, select Internet Options, go to Security tab, uncheck the Protecting Mode, click Apply, click OK, close the IE7. The next time you open IE7, it (CNet TV) should work !

Do not do this. There is a better solution

Instead of turning off protected mode for IE7, you can choose to run only CNET TV in that mode. This is a safer option. Just click on tools > internet options > security tab > trusted sites > sites. Make sure to uncheck require server verification and then add www.cnettv.com to the list. That way, whenever you need to view cnettv, it will load a new window without protected mode and you can enjoy yourself without being at "risk"
