I can't open attachments on my hotmail e-mail account

In my inbox with Hotmail or MSN, I receive several attachments from a friend of mine (I am registered in both services).

Nevertheless, I am unable to open the files. Eihter I am redirected to a blank web page or getting the message:

''path is invalid......blah-blah-blah..........check path is correct''.

Any idea of what can I do or what settings must I change?
