Jan 12, 2011 2:02AM PST

Each time I try to go to the download web site. It's just a blank page. I've tried searching for a product and it be on that site so it would take me there and still a blank page. No error. I typed in the full address. www.download.cnet.com . I've accepted cookies and added the web site to allow list. I don't know what else to do. Any help would be greatly apprieciated. This is a brand new HP laptop. Running Windows 7 and IE 8.

I tired to get there through a search from google and bing. I clicked on the official website link on both of those search engines and still nothing.

Does this happen with other browsers

and does it happen with any other web sites?

Does this happen when you run IE in it's Safe Mode? To do that, got Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)". This will temporarily disable all IE Add-ons. Try the links I gave above again and see if you can at least get access.

Trying another browser would help identify whether this is just a browser problem with IE, or whether there is a problem with the computer.

What anti-virus do you use?

To rule out malware other than viruses, I would suggest you download and install both of the free anti-malware utilities Malwarebytes' Anti-malware and SUPERAntiSpyware. When installed, then one at a time run each, update their definitions, then perform full scans.
