I can't get photos from my card!

Jan 15, 2015 8:42AM PST

I have a SONY SLR and it seemed like 10 photos were all on my card. There are 3 ways to move photos from my card to my computer, and on all of them, it said that the
available space on my card was exactly equal to the
amount of space the card allows.

In other words, the photos appear to be on my card, but when I take the card out, there is nothing on it.

Any help would be appreciated!

Which Sony? Which card? What methods?

A friend ran into this with another make and a spiffy new 64GB SD Card. Turns out their PC would not work with that size card. We added a new card reader to correct that. Your post omitted a lot of detail.

I'm using a 16GB San Disk

My SONY is an SLR SONY camera.
The card is a 16GB San Disk.
This card worked fine last year! The most recent way I was able to get photos from my
camera to my HP computer with Windows 8.1 was last school year, when I bought a Pro Master
compaq flash card reader, and stuck that in to the side of my computer. However, the 10 photos that appear to be on the card while the card was in my SONY camera don't show up on my computer! Before that, a couple of years ago I had trouble transferring the photos from my camera to my desktop computer by using a kind of
cable, so that's why I bought the card.

Another way that photos can be transmitted can be in something else I bought a couple of years ago, a DYNEX All In One memory card reader. But I have the same problem now with the DYNEX card reader: it doesn't
work.. Any more help would be appreciated!

P.S.
When I take the card out of my SONY, nothing works: it just has a white message saying that there is no card. Thus, I can't look for my photos in the camera then. But when the card is put back in, the 10 photos appear
in the camera. Is it possible for the camera to have storage space for photos even when there is no card
in the camera?

Sorry

I can't find an exact model of the camera so I can't see if we can transfer photos from the camera over some USB to the PC. That method should be in the camera's documentation.

Here's a few tips.

If there is any doubt about the model, add a link to your model say from a Sony web page.
About once a year I know I need to format my memory card in the camera to avoid pains like you read on the forums.
