They use focal lengths and that isn't even on the screen. What she was doing was using digital zoom. It's more like cropping a photo. It doesn't zoom in any closer than another 20x camera. The Canon SX210 has a 4x digital zoom, which means that it can zoom to 80x, but it's not really doing that. What you end up doing with digital zoom is making a 12MP image into a 2MP image. It's better to do it on the computer.
okay so i was at a concert and the woman in front of me had an awesome camera. the way she zoomed into her subjects was amazing. I have a sony dsc t-10 and I had to capture pics of the screen because my camera would not zoom in close enough to the stage. She was able to and the image was amazing. I noticed that each time she did that the detail on her lcd read 36x or 40x. i have looked at the canon cameras and the manuals say up to 20x digital zoom. So I am confused. Help! I want that camera. Do you think maybe she had an SLR camera?
