First, the "gold bar" only shows up on Windows XP SP2...Which operating system are you using? Have you enabled ActiveX in your Internet Explorer security settings? If not, please do so. It will be required for installing the ActiveX control for the Flash Player.
If you're using "Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, and CompuServe" browsers...download the installer file from the link below to your desktop, the run it:
Macromedia Flash Player Download Center Windows
If you're using Internet Explorer...you should be able to install it from their normal website below by enabling the correct ActiveX settings in Internet Explorer.
Macromedia Flash Player Download Center Windows Internet Explorer Version
If that still doesn't get it done, here is a manual download location at a third party site.:
Shockwave Flash Player 7
Hope this helps.
Comcast,my ISP, has redirected me to download Flashplayer 7. I can't download it nor have I ever been able to download from Macromedia direct. On the Macromedia site is a note that I "may have to click the gold bar above" but there is no gold bar, just a blank space about four inches long with a little red x in a box in the upper left hand corner. Comcast tech support tells me there is a conflict with Internet Explorer and Flashplayer 7, and to go to Microsoft for help. They also mentioned that this a common problem. Any suggestions or solutions greatly appreciated. Thanks, JohnD.
