I CAN'T DELETE THIS CRAPPY DRAG AND ZIP FILE

by slyfireboy / November 15, 2004 4:42 AM PST

What i did was, i went to the control panel and to the part where it says to remove or change programs and tryed to delete it. This didn't work but it should work. My computer freezes every time I try attempting deleting this file. I don't know how to get rid of it, the reason i hate it so much is because whenever i want to download something from the net it never works when i try and open it up with that program, it never unzips either.....HELP ME I NEED IT BIG TIME.....I don't wanna reformat my computer either.

Try going to Start/Programs and scroll to the program and see if the uninstall program for it is listed there and try uninstalling it there. If you can't uninstall it (perhaps because it's considered to be 'in use' by windows), then try this MS uninstaller utility.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Windows Installer Cleanup Utility can be downloaded from the above link and it will remove installed programs that can't be uninstalled from the Add-Remove Programs List because you don't have the cd anymore or because the program itself can't locate its uninstall file info.

There is one version of this utility available for individual windows versions from W95, W98, ME, NT 4.0, 2K, XP, and Server 2003. Direct download can be reached at this link:

Sly,

Whenever posting questions on these forums, please give us as much information as possible about your computer. Depending on your issue, we might need the operating system, processor speed, amount of RAM installed, brand name of the computer, (if there is one), and any EXACT error messages you are receiving. In your case, which "File" are you referring to. The more information you give us, the better informed our answer will be.

Normally, "Files" aren't listed in the Control Panel/Add-Remove programs section. "Programs" are listed there. Is this a "file" or a "program" you are referring to and please give us it's name. Is it an "Unzipper" program? Obviously, "crappy drag and zip file" doesn't give us much to go on.

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Grif

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
