I Can't Clear My Tracks and I Don't Have A Clue

by Bonatay / September 3, 2005 6:59 PM PDT

I cannot clear the search history from the google search box. Every search made on the google web site shows up in the search box for other sites such as the cnet. I get a drop down box with my searches made on the google site. I don't want anyone else to use my computer and be able to track my interest. I have spent a considerable amount of time trying to figure this out. Never had this problem with my old computer, new one is 7 weeks old.

Operating System - XP Home
Primary Browser - Netscape (IE only when I have to)

I have found some things and tried them from the cnet forums.
cleared cache/checked autofill settings/cleared history/cleared everything/used windows key + delete/used shift key + delete. Nothing works. I know someone has the answer.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You stated that you "checked autofill stettings." Just to be sure, did you the "Clear Forms" and "Clear Passwords" buttons in the Internet Options control panel?

Do your autofill/autocomplete lists appear in both IE6 and Netscape, or one and not the other?

my preferred browser is netscape and i did not check to see if this is an issue in IE. It is not. I just started using netscape 8 when i got the new pc. Now I know the problem is most likely with the browser. in the google FAQ sections they don't mention how to for Netscape but for other browsers I've never heard of.
Thank you!

For the others.......guess which of the below tracks I want to clear. Also,I solved my email issue. I don't want to see it on a drop down menu every time i do a search!

netscape "CLEARING SEARCH BOX HISTORY"
"Certification of fund availability" "electronic signature"
"fine needle apiration"
peter jennings"
"No transport provider was available for delivery to this recipient"
?johns Hopkins medical institutions?
"How do I delete the list of my previous Google searches"

Good to see you still have a sense of humor after all of this.

Ummm...Probably ''fine needle aspiration.'' B-D ultrafine? (I used to work in an FDA regulated pharmaceutical lab.)

So I guess you found the solution to your computer problem within Netscape 8. Tools > Options > Privacy (icon).

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
