Since we can't tell which 7 you have, try rolling back to when it worked with system restore.

So that's not an option... Is there a way of getting a system restore disk for free? I think the people that made my pc probably have the windows product number on file but im not sure

There are shops that install a cracked pirate version and it's easy to tell. You won't get a Windows DVD or restore media. It's a common issue and folk get burned a lot. Since you have no media you have to call that shop to correct this omission. You paid for Windows so you get media. It's that simple.
