3,000 dollar laptops are usually GAME MACHINES.

Those don't last long since the heat and stress in such a small box is great.

Also I had one owner claim it was 3,000 but fibbed. They included the cost of Office and other software.

Ok, about that battery. All laptops are going to get you without a hour of each other. WHY? Because there is a battle to lower the costs and if the designer put in a 10 hour batter the production designer will slash that in half or more.

You don't pick a laptop based on the stock battery. See what larger battery can be had.

-> And about warranties. Laptops are EXPENSIVE to fix. If you can get a 5 year warranty, take it. And read what they cover.

Some insight
Feb 23, 2009 6:23AM PST

Many a office store or computer shop(or online) offer basic laptops that meet your needs. However, I suggest you look at IBM(Lenevo) and Acer brands. The quality is there they seem to last. As for batteries, some makers offer a higher output pack, but that's an option, so be sure to review whatever they offer. Again, the laptop specs will provide the matching details you're looking for, just be aware there are no magic laptops. As for trucking purposes, you know a decent adapter to 12VDC outlet will help if for anything to at least recharge on the road. I'm sure fellow truckers could offer some insight as well. Since laptops are "mobile" still treat them like a baby, they can falter easily, so handle with care and don't take things for granted because you got away with it before.
